Lewandowski: Clinton ad on Trump Scotland trip 'completely false'
By Rebecca Savransky
Donald Trump's former campaign manager on Monday said Hillary Clinton's new ad slamming the presumptive GOP presidential nominee's Scotland trip and response to the Brexit decision is "completely false."
"It's about authenticity, and what you have with Hillary Clinton is she's put an ad out which is completely false," Corey Lewandowski said Monday on CNN.
"Donald Trump was not playing golf as she alluded to in that ad."
Lewandowski, who was hired by CNN after leaving the Trump campaign, said the billionaire put a lot of money into the Scotland golf course he visited last week — and went out to support his son, who oversaw the project.
"One night, overseas, to show support for his family," Lewandowski said.
"I find it very hard to believe that he's being criticized for going out and supporting his family for doing something."
Clinton's campaign launched an ad this weekend attacking Trump, painting the candidate as greedy for his response to the Brexit decision. The ad hits on Trump for talking about how his businesses would profit from Britain's vote to leave the European Union as global markets declined.
Trump shot back at Clinton, attacking her "bad judgement call" regarding the vote. Trump also said the ad showed him playing golf at Turnberry, but the candidate said he didn't hit a shot and was only there to support his son.
On Monday, Lewandowski continued to attack Clinton, saying she couldn't see the vote coming even though, as a former secretary of State, Clinton often says she has a better understanding of what's going on in the world.
"She couldn't understand that 17.4 million people wanted to be out of the European Union," he said.
"This is a person who prides herself in being an expert on international affairs and couldn't understand what was actually taking place. It truly calls into question her ability to understand what's taking place in other geopolitical environments around the world."
